Frequently Asked Questions
How do I access the pre-built version of the driver from the MSDN download site?
You can download the driver from the MSDN download site:
Will Microsoft support these drivers?
Microsoft supports the Microsoft signed versions of the driver. If using a custom built version of the driver and problems are encountered, please reproduce the problem with the Microsoft-built driver before contacting Microsoft support services.
Where can I get more information on the drivers?
You can keep up with other announcements through our
. There's also an
for questions and feedback on the drivers. Do note that the MSDN Forum is the recommended by the team.
Where can I find the documentation for the drivers?
Both drivers are fully documented on
as well as in a help file included with the drivers. MSDN also accepts community contributions to improve the documentation, and we welcome you to provide the necessary updates or corrections if we missed something. We also include two fully
functional example applications (one for each driver) based on the AdventureWorks sample database also available on Codeplex.
How will Microsoft respond to feedback and update the drivers?
We will be responsive to feedback on the
and our team blog
, weighing in on both feature requests and bug reports. When we update the driver on the MSDN download site, we also push the corresponding changes to the source code up to this site.
How can I contribute to this project?
At this time we are not able to accept code contributions for these drivers. We understand this situation is not perfect. Until we reach the stage where we can accept contributions, we strongly recommend filing bug reports in the
SQL Server product feedback system
or post the issue on our
because these sites have a larger community and Microsoft presence. Another advantage of the SQL Server product feedback system is that we able to contact the person
filing the bug should the need arise, and the community gets better visibility on the issue.
